Long Weekend in Venice

Last June, long weekend in Venice and had a very relaxing city break in Venice, although it can be expensive, but you can do it on a budget. I stayed at the Hotel Le Boulevard on Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta, 41 30126 Lido Venezia. All rooms have air conditioning, free WIFI in rooms. There is also, a beach within walking distance and a number of  good restaurants and bars.

Booked the holiday through British Airways  and for two it cost £387.00 and this included flights with booked luggage, this includes transfer to and from the airport as well as and full breakfast.

The hotel is short work from the water taxis terminal and you can get a 24 hour pass for €20 or a 48 hour pass for €30 , 72 hours pass for €40 and a 7 day pass cost €60, Children under 6 travel for free on Vaporetto ( public water buses).

There is nothing like getting off your flight then catching a river taxi to your hotel, it is so relaxing and get way to see the sights. Venice is a collection of islands and it has a very chilled out atmosphere.

There a number of affordable places to eat lunch and dinner on the Lido and there is also a beautiful beach that is a reasonable walking distance.

Also I would recommend an early morning trip to see all the sights of ST Marks Square, Doge’s Palace and St Marks’s Basilica you can get a ticket to visit all the museums for about €20 and you will need to take a form of identification to get the audio equipment.

My only advice would be to pre-book rides on the gondola as this is cheaper.

You can make trips to other islands as well going to check out the designer shops and the markets, I would say that Venice is a shoppers paradise.

I would recommend going a late night ride on the water taxis as the views are amazing of Venice that are breath taking.

Things to do:

  • Go on a late night water taxis ride
  • St Mark’s Square
  • Saint Mark’s Basilica
  • Doge’s Palace
  • Rialto Bridge
  • Bridge of Signs
  • St Mark’s Campanile
  • Gallerie dell’Accademia
  • Museo Correr
  • l Vetri A Lume di Amadi ( Artisan Glass)
  • MuranoVitrum ( Artisan Glass)
  • Ca’ Macana ( carnival masks)
  • Ca Del sol ( carnival masks)

I would recommend that everyone should at least visit Venice once whatever your budget.
